The Pinching technique is one of, if not the oldest methods in the world by which Humans have made Ceramic Vessels. Students will be shown how to modify this technique in order to create a simple piece

Students will take away a handheld personal ceramic piece. A ceramic implement that could be extremely versatile, used for everything from soup, beverages and dried goods.  

As house ceramist, Andrew leads the ceramics program at Palette, creating wares with Chef Peter for the Restaurant and Shop.

Ceramic Pinch Pot Scoop Making

Students will take away a handheld personal ceramic scoop. This type of ceramic implement is extremely versatile. They can be used for everything from soup, beverages and dried goods.  

After students finish the workshop they will receive a reward for all of their hard work. Enjoy Palette’s house made ice cream in the Palette Scoops designed by Chef Peter and Andrew.

The Pinch Pot technique is one of, if not the oldest method in the world by which humans have made ceramic vessels. This ancient technique allows the tea bowl creator to displace clay from the interior of the mass and move it out from the center in order to create volume. In this workshop, students will create a handheld personal tea bowl that can be used for warm or cold beverages.
